Did you know that if you go to www.uiqblog.com on your mobile phone or smart phone, you’ll automatically be redirected to a specially fitted mobile version of the blog - without even noticing it! This way, you’ll be able to keep track of the posts here as well as various comments on the site. You can also post comments yourself, if you want to. And best of all - this cuts down the network expenses drastically, since it’s optimized to mobile phones. Have fun with it and expect to see many other extra features like this one in the future
And now some screen shots from the Sony Ericsson W960 (press the thumbnails for large versions)!

My friend Sebastian Brännström (aka teknolog) and Lars Persson (aka AnotherGuest) have been developing a really cool freeware application for UIQ 3. It’s an audio and video podcast application called Escarpod. The graphics in the application has been created by Alan Eddie, who has done a fabulous job! I was first helping a little with the icons, but Alan’s are far better
Escarpod was recently submitted to the UIQ Open contest and was then published on the project website on the first of January. Escarpod is currently in a beta 2 stage and the release version will come later in January with more translations (I’ve added the Danish translation!). Escarpod will run on any UIQ 3 phone, but it’s highly recommended to use it on one with WLAN to cut the data expenses.
You can read more and download the free application here.
The open source Bergamot project - as this UIQ 3 project has been called - also includes other applications and very exciting future projects and ports from S60 to UIQ 3. You can find more info about the project on its Google Code website.
Oh and I’d like to welcome myself to the blog!
I’m Michell Bak and am also the author of The Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog, and will now be joining Asri with posting about UIQ.

To give a more personalisation and it’s own identity, I present the new UIQ Blog header image which reads The UIQ Evangelist. The design was done my Michell Bak of The Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog. Michell was kind enough to assist me in doing the design and I am really satisfied with it. A million thanks to Michell for his effort.
As you can see, this blog is still a work in progress and I will keep on improving it’s contents as well as to make it the best UIQ resource blog on the blogospehere. All these cant be done without your support. Since I dedicate my time for this blog in September 2007 till now, I’ve learnt a lot and I hope everybody who reads my posts can feel the spirit and enthusiasm.
If you have suggestions to improve this blog, shoot to my email ok!

If you visit www.uiq.com now, you will be greeted with a page that says “503 - Service Temporarily Unavailable”. Is UIQ Technology preparing a make-up for the website or just a routine maintenance?

We left 2007 with a lot of fondmemories and some will remain in our own closet. Looking back at how UIQ Universe is doing, I cant help myself but felt I need to booze my soul. Look, I’m not saying UIQ did not do well but we only met SE P1, Moto Z8 and SE W960 towards year end. After commercially available for 2 years, there are only 6 smartphones running UIQ 3. If this continues, it wont be good…

News from the lab. FRING, the free app that adds VOIP, presence and Instant Messaging to your smartphones (including UIQ 3) has just been upgraded to include support for AOL IM and Yahoo! Messenger. With this new addition, FRING now supports Skype, Google Talk, MSN, ICQ, and Twitter, making it one of the most “Connected” app available out there. However the voice calls has not been enabled yet for these 2 newly added functions.

If you read this blog since the beginning, I’ve been yakking about the missing financial application for some time. It seems that some UIQ 3 developers also thought the same and released an app that looks like a winner. Flying Money by Flying Bird Software (what’s with the name?) is the answer. It’s developed with one goal in mind, i.e. to assist UIQ 3 users in managing the financial aspects of their lives.

If you are a kind of person who values your properties and belongings, then you should give this new app a try. According to the developer, it’s a security app to prevent others from stealing the data inside your phone if it is stolen. You can lock your stolen phone via sending sms and a few other neat tricks under it’s sleeve.
