UIQ - what went wrong?
Our friend over at SELoyalist Blog posted an interesting piece of analysis over what went wrong to UIQ. Reading the piece word by word, I cant help myself to agree totally and it is infact a sad moment for UIQ lovers all over the world over the decision to bury UIQ. Alas… May the best bit of UIQ found their ways to the new Symbian Foundation UI in the future…
Thanks for posting it here!
Sony Ericsson made a wrong decision. UIQ should have gone forward.
Bad move by SE to end it all so abruptly. There won’t be any ‘SF’ handset before 2010, so that means there will be no new symbian smartphone from SE till then. The time lag is just too much. SE is the loser in the long run if it discontinues symbian development now.
I’ve mailed UIQ asking for clarifications, and am awaiting a reply. There won’t be any new UIQ versions though, they made that clear in the last mail.
Well…just compare this
http://uiq.com/product/showroom/ to what SE is supposed to be using next year

The examples on the UIQ website look awesome…. do you really think that’s a working OS though? And that SE are bringing out a phone with that? It seems they are moving to the horrible Windows Mobile?
Signed by Symbian is what went wrong - as in no significant third party applications.
