@Web beta 1.02 is out
Great news guys. New version of digia´s @web is available from their support page.
Here´s the changelog (notice some of the asked features are available):
Accelerated panning
Progress indicator
Addressbar is shown during the page loading
Scrolling with wheel keeps horizontal position
Select URL using double tap
Audio plugin for WAV, MP3 and Midi
Favicons for Bookmarks
Don´t forget to give the guys feedback via their support email.
is this browser better than the standard opera browser or opera mini?
^^@Web is beautiful, renders webpages accurately. I like the auto-hide controls. Touch gesture doesn’t respond consistently since I use a screen guard. And most unfortunately, it doesn’t work too well on the forum I administrate. For some reason, sometimes phone panics (kern-exec-3) during page load ??
Also lacking a lot of useful tools like history (or maybe I’ve missed it) and tab browsing.
Between Opera Mobile 8.65 (the default browser) and Opera Mini, two thumbs up to the latter. Opera Mini’s Feed feature tops the mark. It’s integrated with the browser (a huge plus) and supports live links, sadly missing in the default RSS reader.
Opera Link rocks! Synchronizing bookmarks between desktop and phone is automatic!
@Web is in the right direction, although it needs to “eat more rice” — meaning — it has a long way to go to equal and then Opera Mini’s scope and ease of use. Just my 2c.
@Web definitely still has a good while to go. I am bit frustrated that I cant use my P1i keyboard to enter usernames with hyphens or underscores. They should at least enable the virtual keyboard to be used. Speed wise it has improved a lot. I also second the motion to have tabbed browsing added.
Hope the final version has all these improvements.
