UIQ.com gets new look
Who had have guessed this? Now that UIQ is on course for an inevitable (albeit slow) death, its when their site finally gets the much needed new and modern look. Well, better late than never, it does look very cool.

Hello
looks great ! I hope that the hidden message is that we can expect new UIQ3.x phones !
Gerhard
According to info i got today, the rumors about hikaru are true, and SE will launch one last UIQ phone (in fact uiq 3.3)
@ares,
Good to know!
Hope it will match X1…
And will be a really strong device!
Announcement September, release Q4. Runnning UIQ 3.3
About how it looks…dont know. It had 3 different protos it seems.
Why somebody wants to buy a new UIQ phone if this system is going to death?
Why would I buy a UIQ phone?
Its kinda like asking whether I would buy a Mac if I know that it will be the last Mac to be produce.
I guess for me, there are many things about UIQ that I like that I don’t find in other mobile OS’s. I’ve tried S60, WM, Palm, and I always come back to UIQ as it simply works, and works simply, in a pretty effective manner.
Its not dead yet, and wont be for one or 2 years more. If the device is good, any of us would buy it. All the existing uiq3 apps will work
Hello Ares,
Can you please post and share on your great blog, the statusbar icons you have on the pictures?
They look nice with battery icon.
Please, pretty please!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the touchscreen market on smartphones is either Symbian/UIQ or Windows Mobile.
No other real smartphone alternatives worth out there with a good software base and qwerty+touchscreen interfaces.
The consequence is that if you don’t like Microsoft (bloatware), UIQ is the way to go.
It happens that we know that future UIQ 3.3 devices will be faster that current ones, so they may be up to the task _if_ developers continue releasing software… and symbian hacks
PeoplesArmy, i´m afraid i don´t remember. I downloaded a file with alot of statusbar icons from *****, and i don´t remember the name of the one i´m using
@Blood,
I like very much UIQ Phones, and I’m still sad about the fact of UIQ is not going to be available any more after one or two year from now.
In my particular case, I see no reason to buy an UIQ phone, why? Because this mean we are not going to see more appls for them, I know there are many appls now, but what about future? This mean that we are not going to have MORE programs for internet connection, for utilities or more stuff.
In your Mac Computer example, I could say that even you buy it…, (spend a lot of money) You will still have no more programs to run it in the near future. So you could have a nice computer without any NEW programs! That’s my point.
I think guys, we have to make a CLAIM to SE or Nokia. Actually we love UIQ System. Why we don’t make a kind of protest about this? Is there any chance of that? Is Windows Pocket PC or any other system for smartphone goint to dissapear too?
Ares, maybe you could be so nice/kind to give it (your icons) to UIQBlog for publishing in a future post?
What is this “hikaru” that you speak of? Can you provide more information? If you wish to not make this public, you are welcome to email me directly. I will not share it if that is your wish.
What you mean with “hikaru”, i dont understand.
Sorry, the post was meant for Ares. In the second comment, Ares wrote:
