3rd BeiBei UI video from Phoner
I know… it is somewhat disappointing for us UIQ 3 users to know that BeiBei was cancelled and what would we do if we cant own a BeiBei? Watch the UI videos on YouTube of course! We got this 3rd video from Phoner (you da man!) and this time, it is done using a camera instead of plugged in into PC and using Digia developer tool. The result, you be the judge!
This time around, Phoner emphasized on the Web aka Opera Mobile 9.5 and it made me drool! There’s also the Opera Widget, and also the much revamped Media application… And frankly, we are flattered to see “a revealation” starting from minute 2:46. You want to know what is that? Watch this video!
If I press yes on that screen, I get “File content is corrupt” message
However, I just found out it displays small Flash based banners on other websites without problems.
I dont like that phone anyway!
:-p
did I see the word “FLASH” 8-0
software’s looking good,
though I always thought that hardware was ugly.
xtream @ P1iblog called it lol
@Phoner,
Many thanks to you for showing in the video, you visit UIQBlog.Com using Opera Mobile 9.5. That gives me goosebumps… I really appreciate that
Cheers!
@asri
You are welcome
@Phoner,
If I may ask, how is the stability of Opera Mobile 9.5 in BeiBei? I mean, can it cope with heavy AJAX site like Google Maps or GMail version 2?
I think, the transition made the UI slow, the eye candy is only fun for a few minutes but for real world usage, I prefer to switch transition effect off.
Is there any way to switch it off? If not, then this is the same attitude in SE that hasn’t change since the early P990 days where transition CANT be switched off untill users complain and they release a new firmware for P990 which has an option in control panel to switch transition off.
peace!
Is there anyway we can flash our phones to UIQ3.3? I have a W960 and it’s killing me with it’s slowness. It’s unbelieveable how fast the messages opened (Assuming it wasn’t on the RAM).
@Phoner,
Have you considered sharing the system files? if UIQ3.3 could be ported to our phones, it would be quite generous from you.
the system files are already shared…
regarding messaging app, yes, its faster, even if it is on RAM - and what is the problem with that anyway??? i have all the most used apps permanently on RAM on my P1…that´s why all that RAM is there
@asri unfortunately I can’t turn off the transitions on my phone.
Ares, putting apps on RAM causes the processor to refresh it all the time, which means lowering the battery life.
Personally, I am so sick of SE’s low-spec hardware. UIQ3 is too much for our phones hardware. I am selling my W960 soon. It would have been interesting if we could get that sort of speed on our phones.
@Ferg
I believe you are being somewhat paranoid, and in consequence you suffer by making your phone behave like it was not designed to!
Almost every application can sit still in memory without changing the battery life, specially all applications designed by SE!
Keep all the standard applications in memory like Calendar, Messages, etc and you will not see any battery difference on the end of the day.
Trust us!
That’s how SDRAM works, it has to be constantly refreshed by the processor, if not the data on it will be lost. Which in turn consumes more power. Don’t forget that having too much applications on at the same time will put the processor through unnecessary pressure, the application you are using will have to share time with the other applications loaded on the RAM.
Personally, I am not happy at all with the W960. I can’t wait till I get my old K800 back. Sony Ericsson should have done a better job on these phones.
@Ferg
Do you think the The OS stops refreshing some parts of the memory just because there are no applications stored there?
Oh c’mon! If enjoy suffering waiting for apps to boot each time they are used, be my guest, but don’t complain here. Remember you are not using the phone the way it was built…
