Update on the hacks/mods scene
Wow. Its not been long since pandora´s box was opened. And nevertheless things thought impossible are now a reality: walkman 3.0, G900 notes aplication, increasing sound volume, etc.
Now let me tell you the latest developments: some weeks ago, gapata managed to simplify the process of changing system icons by creating a method of generating a sis installer - now its as simple as installing a theme. Today, swmail managed another breakthrough, and its now possible to effectively replace old PDF+ and Quickoffice ROM versions with the newer 1.80.09 and 4.0.256 versions, extracted from the G900.
I end this article by stating the obvious: all this enthusiasm and praise about things that are a bit “shady” could instead be focused on SE if only they did the right thing: provide firmware updates that actually added value to their devices like their competition does. Instead, they prefer to “kill” UIQ3.

I’d rather just uninstall both. The two apps aren’t very good (IMO). I’m hoping a mod for their removal appears soon.

i check there every minute but its no sign of programs!
awl168, pdf+ is now a very good app since the first update, that was free but did not replace the original, now this one is even better and does replace the original. Quickoffice also improved alot

Just out of interest, ares, is there any discernable improvement in the 1.80 version of pdf+ ?

I have to test more…can´t say right now, i opened a pdf, and it was fast, but it had no images…i got to test something bigger and complex…mmm…beibei manual will do
..I can’t see any difference.. except it hangs whenever I try to get into a dialogue of some sort (missing resource). And I lost the language specific menus, and so on. Maybe it’ll work with one particular .r0X set, or something like that.
I’ll answer my own question…..I’ve installed this and it works REALLY well !
Most noticeably docs are now rendered MUCH faster. For the first time since I own a UIQ device I feel that pdf+ is actually usable.
A very worthwhile ‘upgrade’ to the pdf+ versions which are officially available.

Yeah I would be glad to find the QuickOffice 4.0 app or my P1. In fact I have found a copy that works with UIQ3.1, but I need one for 3.0 in order to be compatible with my P1.
Have you guys tried out the PDF+ 1.80 on P1i?

Even after the ROM update 1.75 ,its not so good
Would love to use the PDF application if it works flawlessly
