Continuing the tradition, UIQ Technology selected 118 Mobile as the Application Of The Month for June 2008. 118 Mobile is an application that automatically finds unknown numbers whenever you get a call, and presents name and adress of the caller before you answer the call. It can also be used as your personal phone book with manual search for tens of millions of numbers, names and addresses.
Whenever you find the desired person or number, you can view a map of his or her adress, store the numbers directly into the contacts application on your phone or simply call or send a message to the person with just one click. The application will be launched in more countries soon, but so far it is available in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Wow. But I don’t think this’s gonna work here in India where more than 80% of connections are prepaid (PAYG) and most of them use proxy or fake names and addresses. Doubt if 25% of all users will be having genuine names & addresses.

It used to be called Adressboken, when it was only available in Sweden and Norway (I think), they re-named it to be more international. Good move
It’s a rather good application, very usefull to identify callers that are not already in your adress book.
The map seems to be a new feature, that’s a good idea.
