G900 Notes app ported to ALL UIQ3 phones
Gapata, the guy behind the Torch app port, is back with a new one: the great looking notes app from the new G900 and G700 phones is now available for P990, P1, M600, W950 and W960.
Edit: dark_skeleton came to the rescue (again), and released this installer, although it requires swmail´s sis installer mod to work (dev cert/open signed does not work). He also released this patch to make both the old and the new notes aplication share the same database, thus alowing backup with PC Suite/Outlook/MobilePhoneExplorer.
Note: if you used the original package provided by gapata before, i suggest that manualy deleting all the files copied to C drive before using the new optimized installer.

i just tried to install this app on my p1 and installer says it’s already installed… any ideas why and how to install it?

I think the problem is you must sign this file first…, Ares could you explain it to us how we can sign this file?

I have signed it (with developer certificate, not open-sis) and I also get the message on my W960i that it’s already installed, while I’m sure it isn’t.
I guess it’s because we already have a Notes application? We cannot install that one though.
Any thoughts?

I have the SIS installer mod and I managed - without problem - to install the G900 Note. The new application is amazing but there is a little conflict with the traditional note app. If the G900 Note runs in the background and a I try to open the traditional note app then the G900 Note appears. If the G900 note is closed and I try to open the traditional note app, then I get an error message Jotter/STRING_r_jotter_/167

I keep notes as a shotcut on the top line on my P1i,
if i return to the app without closing it beforehand i get the error message “in use” so I need to be actually be opening the app every time I want to use it and be sure to close it down every time I’m done using it. Slightly annoying conflict with the original app but still well worth installing. Maybe a restart of the phone will help.

If the G900 note is closed and I try to open the traditional note app, then I get an error message Jotter/STRING_r_jotter_/167
I experience the same bug “in use” as ADOX. The restart will not help…I’ve tried it. I think that the problem is the coexistance of the two note apps.
Guys…again…run the new notes app, for the first time. Then minimize it. Then when you choose one of the notes apps from the programs menu it says “in use” - right, happens to me. But…if you choose the other one, it will work. I tested it, and it works.

DON’T replace the shortcut
use the old shortcut but it brings up the new notes app. Great I LOVE it now. Thanks Again ares you rule.

I copied the installserver.exe in sys/bin and restart my phone but i cant install unsigned app..any suggestions? my phone is w960i

i was forced to go ahead in traditional way and istal it with my bare hands
it faces same problem as you have mentioned if i start the old applcation first after a fresh startup. so i made a rull and that is it : start the new note befor you start anything else after a restart. ( i set the autoexecuter to do that for me )
it doesn’t work at all. Old Notes get false names, program crashes when browsing notes. Tried to start the app as mentioned above, but no luck. Synchronizing the notes with Outlook 2007 via PC-Suite is not possible (Synchronizing is starting bu nothing happens). Worst thing is, I am not able to use the old Note app it crashes with error message “Jotter/STRING_r_jotter_/167″. I deinstalled the new version, but still old Notes apps crashes.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

Rapo, if you don figure wats wrong, you can format c via service menu, and all will return to normal. But in my p1 its all fine, and notes do sync.

I thought I was pretty computer literate but I’m obviously wrong! Going through the various links here it seems every time I think I’ve cracked installing G900 notes I need another program: Notes installer - Installer mod - CapsSwitch - Hack_Perms - Carbide ++ (Isn’t that the full name for C? If so, I’m getting way out of my depth!)
Can someone please explain in easy to follow steps how to access the Sys folder since that seems to be the key to it all?

its hard to have access to system folders..it’s quite complicated
having access to your phones c:sys to have all of this wonderful application is not that hard.you cannot use capswitch if you didnt hack your system first.all you need is a pc and a hackpack!!!use google or this site.you can learn more!!UIQ RULEEEZZZZ!!!!

I’ve found that I can only sync from a clean reboot. Once I have run the new Notes sync will start but not progress. ie, nothing ever appears on the green progress bar.

Cool interface but renders the original Notes app useless. Getting the Jotter/STRING_r_jotter_/167 error too. I guess there’s bound to be a price to pay with certain mods. Anyhoo, I have a question that will hopefully get answered. Does P1i generate crash dumps? I have latest firmware R9K009, BTW. When I try to view old notes, I see a pop-up saying a dumpfile has been created, and then the app closes. But I couldn’t find anything resembling a dumpfile (I have CapSwitch turned off so I can browse protected folders). Where are crash dumps located, if ever they were created? Thanks!

If you have a shortcut on your desktop that opens the original Jotter app and you install the new G900 Notes app after, you can still access the original app from the shortcut.
