Visit the Wiki

The UIQ3 wiki was started in 2006 by Jean-Eric Cuendet - as a sub- project on sourceforge, to create an easy platform for developers of UIQ3 exclusive open source projects. Later, since the general bug- tracker wasn’t suitable for general UIQ3 bugs - krischik (at my-symbian.com), the current maintainer, set aside a portion of the wiki for a bug- list.

And, (as aqualung mentioned in a comment yesterday) the only “semi- official” place for bug- reporting is the UIQ3 wiki.

..Well, or, it’s the only place with bug- reporting for UIQ that any SE engineer has admitted to taking an interest in.

..Ok. True, it was more like a friendly “get lost” after we started nagging people with program bugs over at the SE developers forum:

I wonder if you and yours alike can use the P1 wiki:
http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Phones/P1i
for reporting bugs like the ones for P990 over here:
http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Phones/P990i

It would be excellent source for us to get feedback from the
usercommunity in a more formal way.

I will redirect your feedback but I know if you guys set up
wiki for the p1 it will get more attention then a number of threads.

Cheers

…And I suppose he didn’t actually say they were going to use the wiki as an unofficial bug- reporting system as such.

And, well, most of what we’ve listed in the bug sections hasn’t been fixed - even if some few have been (credit where credit is due, after all): the message- app hang on longer e-mails, the “icon bug” from the first release of the p990, and an opera problem with the “back” function when using in- page links.

And true, it’s probably been made clear to us that SE has no intention of actually adding any functionality to the phones, be it necessary apis (profiles), improvement of annyoing program behaviour, or fixing connection priority problems, or improving object exchange methods between PIM and the message- application. Or for that matter send all that many requests for enhancements to those who made the extra programs included with UIQv3.0.

And… it’s also true we basically have five people who have edited the wiki more than once.

But nevertheless(!). In addition to being a good place to host open source UIQ3 projects - it’s the only place for general bug- reporting for UIQ devices. And that’s got to count for at least something.

I’d also like to ask if people can register on the wiki and “sign” bugs you’ve seen on your phones. And do the same with feature requests you think sound useful. (Because otherwise SE is probably going to believe that no more than two people have ever seen any bugs on their UIQ3 phones.)

So - CLICK THE LINK, or else, I swear….

  1. Nooooo ! Not the little puppy dog !!!!!!!!

It certainly would be nice to see people support the wiki.

I think however most will be signing the existing buglist, rather than adding new entries.

Unless UIQ 3.0 still conceals more bugs than the average cubic metre of virgin, unexplored rainforest :p

Here’s a link to the most relevant editing FAQ. At the very least, interested users can sign in and add their name to the list (see the second section on signing your comments. It’s a matter of typing anywhere between 3 and 5 tildes ~ )

:) ..and it’s really difficult to find out if it’s a bug, or if it was something with a program. The Quick- office hang, for example - that happens only on the p1 and not the p990 or the g- series. So that’s one where on device testing probably would reveal a problem with the way the p1 handles the screens. And I suspect there are a lot of those, that really belong in the developer forum’s buglist… which doesn’t actually exist either, of course..
