The art of technology

I was a bit skeptical when ares sent me a link to a developer’s diary on the UIQ developer forum yesterday. Since the last time I read one of those, I fell asleep, dreamt of mechanical lizards eating my brain, and then woke up cowering on the floor.

But this one was much better. “andrewm”, apparently one of the 300 new employees at UIQ lately, goes through the few first steps of creating a full project as a lone programmer. And shares insights and observations on naming conventions as opposed to changes in programming language. And tradition against more modern practices. Along with some encouragement for other single developers out there, struggling hard to get over the steep initial learning curve, when creating something on their own - for the first time. (….? Why are you laughing? What’s so funny?).

ares adds: you can get the example web radio app featured on the thread mentioned by nipsen here , courtesy of nonolk from forum planete-se (he compiled it).

Remember our constant demand for a “UIQ beta labs“??? This might be a start - IF they don´t take another TWO YEARS for releasing more example apps :)
