Walkman 3.0 (w960) available for P1i

Advice: remove walkman 2.0 instalation before installing walkman 3.0. And W950, P990 and M600 users: DO NOT install it! Stick with what i just showed you in the post before this one.
How are we gonna remove the walkman 2.0 installation? Seeing which files the walkman 2.0 packet has, and then deleting them one by one? Or is there a better way?

Can someone pls be kind enough to give a detailed step by step to achieve this? Where are the files for walkman 3.0? Do I have to unlock the P1i? If yes, then how?

It works really great and a really amazing player. For guys having trouble installing v3 over v2, I didn’t v2 files i simply overwrite ‘em with v3 files, restarted, started v3 player didn’t work, overwrite with v3 files once again, restarted and voila! it worked!!
Chamak… i have a question… when you install V2, did you overwrite the default “private,resource, shared and sys” folders?
or you just copy them into the respective folders?

I put all the archive files on the C: of my phone.
But after restarting the phone when i started the walkman application it said “The Application cannot be started”

When I copy the files to the c:\ folder on the phone, am I supposed to overwrite the existing resource, sys, etc.. folders? Currently when I copy, it says that the existing folders will be overwritten and I’m not sure if that’s the right way to do it. Should I copy the files one by one and place them in the folders? I tried that too, and it still says certain files will be overwritten. should i allow it or not?

Actually there’s no need to uninstall Walkman2.0, nor to overwrite the files 2 times. One is enough, all that’s needed, is to reboot 2 times after that, one by yourself, and the second time the phone will reboot itself when you try to start walkman3.0 (a message comes on the screen after the reboot, saying the phone restarted to improve efficiency!). After the second reboot, walkman 3.0 works just fine.

Please do not follow their request to overwrite otherwise you will have to flash your phone and reinstall everything ! You need to check carefully your existing folder and sub-folder in C: drive. If you find some folder already there so you can only copy the files in the zip file to existing conresponding folder in C: do not overwrite anything !

We are talking about overwriting the files of a previous walkman2.0 installation (in the case that someone had also installed walkman2.0) not the system files… Obviously one has to check what he’s deleting, there are risks. The above method has worked fine for at least 3 people here *with p1i phones, and previous walkman2.0 installations*

I can’t find a way to get away from the “application could not be started” error. tried overwriting, clean install.. rebooted twice. no luck

I’m sure anybody can help me. I would like to know if any “standard” function of SE P1i will be dissability if I install this Walkman (3) version. What happens with the build- in player? Is gonna be there? What happens If I want to unistall later, I’m gonna be able to do it? I want to install this app, but I’m afraid to put this file into the C drive at the phone. Is valid my concern?

Nothing will happen to your P1i if it is done correctly. The built-in Music Player will still be there. Wallkman 3.0 will not overwrite the built-in player. It will appear as a new application.

@Kunal, I have exactly the same problem as yours, I have copied one by one all the files from archive file following structure of the files and directory containing files to proper location. After copying I checked again for sure that all required files are there and in correct location, but after restarting the phone when I open walkman 3 I got the message The application couldn’t be started. Ah I really got tired from that. Others having P1i seem not to have such problem so where is really problem ?

Got bored by trying to make walkman 3.0 run on my p1i, i tired my hand at walkman 2.0. To my surprise it is working pretty fine on my phone. What should i do now? Delete files of walkman 2.0 first or copy new files and overwrite the existing ones.

hi, im having some problems here:
#1 - Unlock access to system folders (look CapsSwitch)
#2 - Download the archive from http://www.agathosyne.de/files_ext/wplayer_v3_swmail_mod.zip
#3 - Copy contents of directory ‘C’ from the archive to ‘C:\’ disk in your phone. Default language of the Walkman Player is English. To change the language copy the contents of according folder from a dir ‘Languages’ to folder ‘C:\Resource’ on your phone. Accept overwrite request.
#4 - Restart your smartphone
from #1 -do i really need to have a PC Suite so i can see the private folders in my p1? cuz im having trouble installing my pc suite it says “your OS is not supported” or should i just skip in and go directly to step 3, Copy contents of directory ‘C’ from the archive to ‘C:\’ disk in your phone. using Swiss Manager Pro..?

I also got the “Application cannot be started” message, but after upgrading the firmware all works well, and even better now with louder volume.

I aslo think that the problem I could not succeed in copying all files from archive of walkman 3 and get it working on my p1i is that my FW is too old but I could not also update FW for my phone online. Please someone has latest FW for p1i or give me a link to download it for offline updating with RS++ ? Thanks !
hay guys.. i’m having a problem in copying all the files because some folders cannot be opened, like the sys folder in drive c: a message “protected folder” is showing-up…

Try extracting the “sys”, “shared”, “resource” and “private” folders to the root of the drive instead. You’re going to get a warning about overwriting files, because the directories exist on the phone- mem. If there were files with the same names in the directories, they’d be overwritten. But you won’t delete any content in the existing folders.
i have capsswitch installed and walkman player does work.
but the problem is whenever i restart my mob,though capsswitch is still there hack is not functioning i.e. protected c:/ and no walkman.
i have to go to menu->tools->capsswitch to re engage the hack?

..”caps” probably refers to the protection on the file- system. What the hack does is changing a byte in running memory that controls the writing rights. So every time you boot the phone, it’s back to the way it was. If you start capsswitch, then, the caps will probably be on. Turn them “off”, and you’ll have access to the filesystem. It’s a good idea to turn it back on again when you’re done messing around.
