QuickOffice UIQ 3 version 4.0

After years relying on the old Quickoffice v3 which comes by default in Sony Ericsson UIQ 3 smartphones, the developers announced the immediate availability of Quickoffice UIQ 3 version 4.0. Is it worth the $49.99 price? 1. How do u compare this against other products such as Documents to go?

  2. SuperInggo,

IMHO, it’s unfair to compare Quickoffice UIQ 3 v4.0 with Docs To Go UIQ 3 v3.00. However, I was informed that a new Docs To Go release is imminent. Anytime from now. If it is true, then we can have a head to head comparison.

But for the record, the new Quickoffice UIQ 3 v4.0 is miles away from the old built-in one.

I will put my thoughts in a review, which will be published in AAS very soon!!!

    :-)

  3. i want to ask you something off topic, why your smp icon can show up how much memory space avail? what smp version are you using now ? not 1.60? how to setting like this, it is useful wor

  4. xo

err… All I can say is I’m betatesting the new version of SMP ;-)

    Cheers!

  5. wow… fully understand, i keep waitting then. hohoho

  6. Hi! I really appreciate what you have to say about this new version of Quickoffice, I have Docs to Go…, I have been waiting a lot for the new 4000 version, and the dataviz team is still working on it. I have some concern about the Docs to Go, It’s a little difficult with the zoom capabilities to edit and big spreadsheet, I’m thinking to try with the QuickOffice, but there is not trial to prove it.

I don’t know what to do, to buy the QuickOffice now to get it at 30% of discount, or to wait a “couple” of months or weeks for it. What do you recommend me Asri?

  7. I want to say “wait a couple of months or weeks for Docs to Go version 4000″

    Thanks!

  8. Dorman,

QuickOffice v3 which comes default in Sony Ericsson UIQ3 smartphones are old and I prefer Docs To Go over it.

But untill Docs To Go 4.0 is released, QuickOffice UIQ3 version 4.0 is really good and miles ahead of the built-in one.

Docs To Go 4.0 availability has been announced for months in the developer’s webpage but they keep quiet ever since… Nothing new from them…

    Cheers!

  9. Does anybody know if there is a trial version for the new Quickoffice?

  10. Thanks Asri!

I think I’m gonna buy the QuickOffice, it seem a better program than Docs to Go v3, for now. The WYSIWYG visual options is very helfull and the Zoom View is a very practical. The new quickoffice’s screenshoot seems to offer more area for edit or view a document and I think this is a very important thing in a mobile device.

I wrote to Dataviz team about the upgrade of Docs to Go, they have no date for the new release yet, I don’t know what this guys call “version 4000 coming soon”, I have been waiting for months as you said for this. I make a reclaim to this guys too, If someone want to contact them…, one have to have the pacient to answer MANY questions before you can post one. It’s very annoying! It seems they don’t care about customer. I think is better to have a Forum, like DreamSpring Forum which is very helpfull and friendly for old and new customer and If someone want to search a topic it’s possible.

    Thanks again,

    Dorman

PS. I’m waiting for your comments about QuickOffice v4.

  11. @ilias74,

AFAIK. There is no trial for QuickOffice UIQ 3 v4.0.

    @Dorman,

This is the answer that I received from a friend inside Dataviz :

“Good to hear from you. We have announced that an upgrade for UIQ 3 will be coming soon and it will have full support (view, edit, and create) for Office 2007 files. As far as other additions/improvements, I can’t really get into that at this point. I’ll pass more info along to you when I can.”

Not much of a help I think… Guess we just need to wait… and wait….

    Cheers!

  12. Asri,

This is what I get from Dataviz Team:

    very disapointed for everyone!

Have a great day…! any progress with the AAS review?

  13. Hello
I have download the Version 4 to my memory card. However, I cannot start Quickoffice 4 as it produces an “unkown failure”. What to do now ? Anybody else had that issue as well ?
    Gerhard

  14. I just bought (22 euro) and download the application. I downloaded it into my phone memory since it is an upgrade to the current version. When the installation finished my phone asked me to restart. After the restart everything works perfect. I recommend the application, it’s simply amazing. Nothing to do with the previous one: very good interface, handle big files very easily, various display of doc files, upgrade posibility without removing the hole application etc

  15. Nice and easy!

  16. Hello
thanks for your kind advice ! I have now checked Quickoffice 4 with the P1i of my son. It is working ! However, the FW is R9J.
Could you pls let me know what FW you are using (R9J or R9K) and what is the SW version (mine is 4.0.237). I am wondering if there is a problem with R9K and 4.0.237.
I have completly reset my P1i (R9K), but i could not install the Quickoffice update. The installation is stopped after about 60% by the phone !
    Thanks and best regards
    Gerhard

  17. I have the latest firmware which you can find here:

    http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CDA/P1i

and Quickoffice 4 works fine on my P1i.

  18. Asri:

Nice comments about QuickOffice v4 can do with a little hint to improve even this version.

    Dorman

  19. @Dorman

Err… What hint? Can you please tell me what do you want? ;-)

Actually, my Quickoffice UIQ 3 v4 review is completed and should be fefatured in AAS anytime from now. When it is published, I will post the news here as usual ;-)

    Cheers!

  20. No Asri, maybe I couldn’t express myself very well, your review is complete and very interesting (you look like an experimented writer!) I was just making a reference for the missing stuff you mentioned (CVS files and more) this is a kind of hint for quickoffice engineers.

  21. It seems to me I read your QuickOffice review before you at AAS! That’s why I was talking about the “little hint”. Thanks Asri.
