Interesting blog post about SE/UIQ

Here´s what Flein aka nipsen has to say about current UIQ and Sony Ericsson situation:

[...]And all that, while they are so infinitesimally close to being able to choose the complete opposite direction? It would after all be done by just responding to simple, easy, requests from an increasingly engaged user- community. Who will in fact abandon SE in the future because of these things - which again will cause less programs to be written for the platform - and again which will transform the phone into a glorified feature handset, both unecessarily expensive and resource- hungry, without any real return.[...]

Full post here. Clearly, i share alot of what is said…we like UIQ alot, we can see its potential and are enthusiastic about it. However, some of the stuff that UIQ and its shareholders are doing, specially Sony Ericsson, are just plain WRONG and may put in stake the (still) loyal user comunity and UIQ´s and SE smartphone´s own future.

  1. Fully agree !

SE does everything they can to alienate the pool of the most articulate, enthusiastic UIQ 3 power users on the internet.

    Go SE go.

If this carries on you can kiss your intelligent userbase goodbye (and maybe, some of your profit margin too).

Which probably makes zero difference to a company hellbent on selling as many entry level radio phones to India as possible.

  2. ..slow newsday, ares? :p

  3. You are a star now lol Seriously, i think it clearly deserves being featured here :)

  4. ;) ..thanks for the h/t, ares.

But about the post - I think it was just a matter of time. Before SE turned the non- engagement with their customers - into allowing MacWorld analysis to have exclusive influence on their decisions.

  5. Well…i still have hope something will change…they will have no choice unless they are not interested in being in the smartphone sector. I don´t like Apple but i am glad they entered the sector…both the iphone and its SDK will force the Symbian, SE, etc to change
