Thank god… My prayer for a search utility has been answered.
In my feature article posted in AllAboutSymbian on June 14th 2007, my numero uno request was a “Search utility”. Here’s the text
“1. Search application.
A global search application to help locate all files and information stored in application data files (e.g Contacts, Calendar, etc).
Other Symbian platforms are already well served (there are no less than three search utilities for S60, including one that’s free from Nokia) and this is actually something I would like to see built into UIQ 3 in the same way that it is into some Eseries S60 3rd Edition smartphones.”
Guess what? Today I saw an information about Easy Search for UIQ 3, released by Webgate, a developer known for some high profile applications like Advanced Call Manager, SMS Spam Manager etc.
I waited no time and loaded the demo into my P990. And it has all the ingredients needed to be a superb search utility. The interface is simple but intuitive, results are categorised according to the search type, searching time is speedy and most importantly, files can be opened directly from it. This is an application you guys should give a try and believe me, it makes searching data such as files or calendar entries or even contacts a lot easier.
Take my words, I will review this app soon!
