Alternative to the built-in RSS Reader - for free

For me, the built-in RSS feeds reader in SE’s UIQ 3 smartphone are not done properly. Lots of things could’ve been included such as image display and clickable URL. It does the job fetching RSS feeds, nothing more, nothing less.

With all it’s limitation, I have stopped using it and using Google Reader instead. An online service which does feed reading better than the built-n RSS feeds. In terms of usability, Google Reader has a mobile version consists of lightweight codes and displays stuff in plain old html (including images and links!) without complex scripts. The mobile version can be reached at http://www.google.com/reader/m

Among other things, I really like to use Google mobile on my P990 because it can be loaded using the built-in Web browser and also Opera Mini which is really handy because I can access my feeds in Flip Closed mode.

It’s an online app meaning you need to be connected to the net in order to read your feeds, compared to the built-in RSS feeds where you can update your news and read them offline later.

Google Reader, like most other Google products, have their own full blown web version at http://reader.google.com where you can do more stuff like exporting & importing feeds, manage tags, viewing old stuff etc.

If you have a GMail account and haven’t yet use Google Reader, go try it. If you have no GMail and have not used any other Google products, go try it. You wont know what you have been missing…

So, any of you using Google Reader mobile already? Tell me your experience and what you would like to see being improved in it.
