As you remember, R6G04 firmware version was launched in distant Februrary. Since then, nothing as come out, and we obviously thought Sony Ericsson had yet again stopped supporting one of its expensive high-end smartphones way before what´s legitimate to expect nowadays (compare with Nokia).
Recently though, a rumor appeared over at my-symbian forums regarding a new firmware release for the P1i, version R6H25.
The origin of this info is this thread at uiq3.eu forums, and as you can see, the latest developments are more than interesting: the list of improvements include Opera 9.5 and Flash 3.1, among other meaty stuff, but the firmware is not yet stable and his only being tested internaly.
So, what do you guys think, too good to be true??? Will Sony Ericsson do the right thing, FINALLY??? Anyone out there have access to inside information about this subject???

Sony Ericsson and UIQ technologies recently released more information about what they will be doing at the London Symbian Smartphone Show (21-22 October). Read it here and here.
On that subject, we would like to know if any of our readers will be at the show. It would be really nice if people could go there and ask some questions to people from UIQ, SE, Motorola, etc, take some pictures. make some videos. One of the cool ways of covering the even would be using bambuser to do live broadcasts from the event, directly from UIQ phones. So, please contact us if you can go there!

That´s right, folowing some discussion at my-symbian forums, Gary delivered what gdesk users want, version 0.33e of Gdesk, that includes a new pack of “Caps” files, that have advanced capabilities. Here´s the changelog:
* Scroll page snap option - snaps to the nearest complete page
* Each page can be flagged as forced full screen, forced not full screen or neither
In addition there is a Caps folder in the zip. This contains enhanced capability builds of GDesk and a couple of plug-ins.
* Set a shortcut key to bring GDesk to the front
* Add a key-lock icon that doesn’t need an external application
* Changing @web pages works
* InfoView now has the ability to show operator name
Get the new version here. Remember, for using the special versions inside the Caps folder, you need swmail´s capswitch and the sis installer mod. Gary was also nice enough to create a new application that eases the process of using the sis installer mod. Just install installhack after capswitch, and you will never have to sign any file again!

As usual, images speak as thousand worsds…at short term, SE is potentialy exchanging this kind of Symbian UI:

(more here)
for this kind of UI:
I have no doubts about what i like more (this has nothing to do with the Nokia 5800 by itself: its the greatest products i have seen from nokia in along time, the specs vs price relation is just AMAZING)

The best SatNav app for Symbian IMHO, Garmin Mobile XT, just reached version 5. The new version looks like a totally new app because the interface has been redesigned and it makes more sense now. And the speed in loading map data is also greatly improved. UIQ 3 and S60 3rd Edition users can now enjoy the new version of Garmin Mobile XT.
